On Sunday afternoon, November 23, Ms. Glenna Smith, one of our current four year
old teachers at CRCS, suddenly passed away and went home to be with the Lord.
Glenna was doing a great job in the preschool and was so excited to work at CRCS
during her first year. It was obvious when you met Glenna and watched her teach
that she loved what she was doing and was answering God's call in her life. It has
been a blessing to see the great impact she had at CRCS among the staff and
students in only a few months time.
It was clear that Glenna loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and wanted to serve
Him with all of her heart. Her vibrant and outgoing personality will always be remembered
by our staff. Several of the staff have commented about how energetically she greeted
everyone with a very pleasant "Hi!" and the person's name. Since September she had
already developed several friendships among the CRCS staff.
Glenna was also faithful to the Lord at Calvary Road Baptist Church. She served
in the Beginner Ministry (three year olds) at 11:00 am and was actively involved
in Change Point the church's young adult ministry. One of the passions in her life
was to know that all of the people that she loved and knew also had a personal relationship
with the Lord. She regularly worked and prayed to that end.
Understanding the loss of a wonderful and talented individual at such a young age
is extremely difficult for all of us. Romans 8:28 tells us that "all things work
together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to
his purpose". From her positive demeanor and passion for the Lord, it was obvious
that she loved God, and was doing His will. While we mourn over our loss, we can rejoice
that Glenna is in the presence of the Lord and Christians will see her again.
To honor Glenna's life, funeral services were held at Calvary Road Baptist Church
on Friday, November 28 at 11:00 am. The interment followed close to her home town
of Front Royal, VA at Panorama Memorial Gardens in Strasburg, VA at 2:00 pm.
Please pray for her son, Dylan, her mother, and other family members during their
time of loss.
